The Boston Celtics have emerged victorious in the 2024 NBA Finals, sweeping the Dallas Mavericks 4-0 with a resounding 106-88 victory in Game 5 on Monday night.

After years of heart-wrenching playoff exits, the Celtics have finally reached the pinnacle, capturing their 18th NBA championship in franchise history. This marks their first title since 2018.

Jayson Tatum led the way for Boston, scoring 32 points and grabbing 10 rebounds in the clinching game. Jaylen Brown contributed 23 points, while Marcus Smart added 17 points and 10 assists.

The Celtics' defense proved too much for the Mavericks, who struggled to find their offensive rhythm throughout the series. Luka Dončić, Dallas' star player, was held to just 16 points on 6-of-20 shooting in Game 5.

With the victory, the Celtics join the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers as the only teams with 18 or more NBA championships. The Celtics also become the first team since the 2017 Golden State Warriors to sweep the NBA Finals.

The Celtics' championship parade is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, June 19, starting at 11 am.
